Configuration Wizard Window

The configuration wizard will help you, at the beginning, to select a solar eclipse and observer’s location, followed by default values for your photography equipment and phenomena to be photographed, before generating automatically a basic camera script. However be aware that the generated script is just to get you started with the basics; improving the script by hand is then a must for example to use some more powerful features. To do just that, you need to access the Configuration Wizard window in Solar Eclipse Maestro.

  1. Choose File > Configuration Wizard…
    Configuration Wizard Eclipse Window
  2. Then select a solar eclipse using the Eclipse pop-up menu. Eclipses are chronologically sorted and partials are located at the menu end.
Once the eclipse has been chosen, its path will be displayed on the map.
  3. Coordinates in latitude and longitude with the eclipse type will be displayed below the map at the mouse-over location. The coordinates of the observer’s location are shown on the right of the map with the corresponding elevation and timezone used for computing the local time. The white circled cross on the map is your current observer position.
Then click anywhere on the map to set the coordinates of your viewing location. When your Mac is connected to the Internet, the elevation and timezone of the location will be automatically retrieved. Otherwise those two values won’t be modified and a small danger will be displayed next to these values to the right.
The Modify Location… button let you modify manually all the values with a greater accuracy. It also enables you to vizualise and tranfer the data from a GPS connected to the Mac.

A diagram at maximum eclipse from the mouse-over location is also displayed to the right of the map.
  4. Then you need to set the default values for your photography equipment. To do it, click either on the Continue button or else on the Equipment tab. These values will be used by the script generator.

  5. Last choose the phenomena you’d like to photograph by clicking either on the Continue button or else on the Phenomena tab.

  6. To complete the procedure you need to click on the Finished button to generate the camera script. You will have the opportunity to name and save the script.
