Eclipse Map

Two views of the eclipse map are available: the regular one displayed inside the main window and the standalone displayed in a separate window that can be resized. A maximum eclipse diagram at the mouse-over location can also be displayed hovering the lower right corner of the eclipse map. The lunar umbral shadow and the solar terminator can also be both displayed in real time.

Maximum Eclipse Sun Moon Diagram Eclipse Map Contextual Menu
The eclipse map not only shows the eclipse path at sea level and the observer’s location, but displays also:
  • the duration info at the mouse-over location, either at sea level or observer’s elevation, or the eclipse type when out of the path
  • the eclipse path at the observer’s elevation using fuchsia dotted lines
  • the solar terminator animation
  • the umbral/antumbral shadow animation at sea level
  • the maximum eclipse diagram, taking into account the dip of the horizon, at the mouse-over location in the lower right corner
A contextual menu that can be invoked with a right click over the eclipse map will let you select various options:
  • Show Color Coded Duration - Display or hide the color coded duration to indicate where to move to increase your eclipse duration
