Fixed F-Stops

Postby astronerd » Sun Jul 09, 2023 8:09 pm

Xavier,
I will be using at least two if not three Nikon cameras on telescopes with fixed F Ratios. Aperture is a key word in the script. Do I just put the F ratio of the telescope in this field for the camera script? I know I need two or three scripts, one for each camera, all combined into one script... So I put the F-Stop for each telescope in as the Aperture key word for each camera script? Am I confused?

Ideally you put the closest aperture value that's available in the camera. You can put the one of the telescope if you want but I find it cleaner to use the nearest available. Say you have an f/4.5 telescope, then use f/4.
All the cameras go into the same script, with different names of course. Once a name is associated to a camera serial number you don't have to worry.
Which camera models are you using?
