Canon EOS Utility Potential Snow Leopard Incompatibility

Postby xjubier » Wed Oct 14, 2009 11:41 am

It appears the Canon SDK and EOS Utility before version 2.8.1 are not fully compatible with Snow Leopard (MacOS X 10.6).

[Update as of February 2010]
Snow Leopard 10.6.3 fixes the compatibility issues and Canon EOS Utility 2.8.1 is compatible.
Please upgrade to Solar Eclipse Maestro 1.6.3 to minimize any problem.
[/Update]

This means that if you own a Canon camera, you shouldn't move yet to Snow Leopard. Otherwise you may not be able to control the Canon cameras anymore.

Once Canon has corrected the problem, I will release a bugfix version of Solar Eclipse Maestro.

On the other hand, everything is fine with Nikon cameras.

Xavier,

I sent you an email with more details on this a few minutes ago. Neither my Canon 5D nor my 550D (Canon T2i) can be controlled by Maestro. I have a Mac running OS 10.6.3 and Maestro 1.8.2.

What is this Canon EOS utility? Must I install it on the Mac?

Will installing OS 10.6.8 cure the problem?

It's the remote connection utility provided by Canon. You should find it on the CDs provided with the camera.

Installing 10.6.8 will not fix your problem, but I recommend you to upgrade to 10.6.8.
However installing SEM 1.8.3 should take care of your problem.
