RAMPUP/RAMPDN 1/2 stop support?

Postby blackdragon72 » Fri Jun 09, 2017 8:06 pm

I dont seem to be able to set up 1/2 stop RAMPUP/RAMPDN on my canon camera, 1/3 stop and 1 stop works.
Is it supported and what is the "stop" number I should use for 1/2 stop ramp?

Thanks

Right now a half stop is not supported and is converted to a full stop.
1/3(0.3), 2/3 (0.7), 1, 2 or 3 stops are supported.

Got it.

I did some experiments.

RAMPUP,C2,+,00:10.0,YL_5D4, 1/500,7.1,100,0.0,RAW,None,Y,35,0.3,Ramping up
I got .... 2, 2.5, 3.2, 3.2, 5 (ie, 4s was replaced by another 3.2)

RAMPDN,MAX,+,00:05.0,YL_5D4, 5,7.1,100,0.0,RAW,None,Y,35,0.3,Ramping down
I got 5, 4, 3.2, 3.2, 1.6,1.3........... (should have been 2.5, 2, 1.6)

RAMPDN,MAX,+,00:05.0,YL_5D4, 3.2,7.1,100,0.0,RAW,None,Y,10,0.3,Ramping down
I got the same error:
3.2, 3.2, 1.6 ....

RAMPDN,C3,-,00:05.0,YL_5D4, 1.6,7.1,100,0.0,RAW,None,Y,10,0.3,Ramping down
everything looked ok.

So it seems that there is a bug around 3.2s exposure, not sure if it is only for Canon.

And there was a few occurrence that TAKEBST was dropped by Canon T3i, it seemed that SEM tried to schedule it. I have not seen the similar issue on 5D4.

Is this a know issue/limitation?

I say it was dropped by Canon because the LED screen of T3i turned to black momentarily (which is the case when it does exposure), so seemed that Canon received instruction but somehow it did not start exposure.

Yes very likely. SEM is way quicker than any camera, which means that if an action is not carried out by the camera it usually means that there is either an error or else multiple conflicting actions, i.e. overlapping.
One way to know is to have a look at SEM's log, Window menu and then select Solar Eclipse Maestro Log.
