EOS 6D connection [Case Solved]

Postby lfulham » Sun May 05, 2013 8:14 am

Is the EOS 6D supported by S.E.Maestro? The log file shows the camera is detected but it will not connect

Log extract:
May 5 17:16:15 Lens-MacBook-Air.local Solar Eclipse Maestro[180] <Info>: Camera added from EDSDK 2.11+ handler (***Canon bug***)
May 5 17:16:15 Lens-MacBook-Air.local Solar Eclipse Maestro[180] <Info>: Camera device 0x4000001B added live

I have also tried with the wireless connection without success. Any advice appreciated.

Thanks,
Len.

It should, however there are bugs in the Canon SDK that need to be addressed. I'm still in Australia at the moment and will see what can be done to fix all the issues with the 6D once back home.

Please make sure you're using SEM 1.8.3v4 Intel (the Universal Binary version won't work with the Canon EOS 6D or any Canon DSLR newer than the 60D).
Which version of MacOS X are you using?

Have you installed
Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.05
It shouldn't be necessary but it may help.

Also please make sure you're using SEM 1.8.3v4 Intel (the Universal Binary version won't work with the 6D).

I will install the Digital Camera Raw Compatibility update 4.05 and see if that helps (had not as it only seemed to refer to Fuji cameras). iPhoto has accepted the RAW files from the 6D OK.

Am using the current version of SEM 1.8.3v4 Intel.

If all goes well I will try the camera again tomorrow.

Now I have installed the Digital Camera Raw Compatibility update 4.05.

Still no connection - in the Hardware Configuration window it says 'detected' under the refresh button which is greyed out and the spinning symbols beside Camera 1 and beside the refresh button just spin continually. The only active button is 'cancell'

If I press the shutter button on the camera it says 'busy'

The latest beta works perfectly with the Canon EOS 6D.

The coming public release, 1.8.3v5, will have the fix.
