Sun/Moon Diagram
The eclipse Sun/Moon diagram is displayed in real time. The zenith at the observer’s location is up (view matches what you see through binoculars).
The Sun/Moon diagram not only shows the relative positions, but also displays:
- the ecliptic
- the solar north and equator
- the celestial north
- the lunar north
- the solar limb darkening
- the solar corona during totality
- the Moon’s surface
- the Baily’s beads animation
- the horizon haze
- the quality of the atmospheric rendering
- the elevation and azimuth of the Sun
- the best camera orientation for coronal streamers
- the parallactic angle value
A contextual menu that can be invoked with a right click over the Sun/Moon diagram will let you select various options:
- Show Ecliptic - Display or hide the ecliptic as a yellow dotted line
- Show Solar Equator - Display or hide the solar equator as two white tick marks
- Show Solar North - Display or hide the solar north as an orange tick mark
- Show Celestial North - Display or hide the celestial north as a red tick mark
- Show Moon North - Display or hide the lunar north as a green tick mark
- Show Solar Limb Darkening - Enable/disable the display of the solar limb darkening
- Show Solar Corona During Totality - Enable/disable the display of the solar corona during totality
- Show Moon Surface - Display or hide the Moon’s surface
- Show Moon Contours - Display or hide the lunar limb profile
- Show Baily’s Beads Animation - Display or hide the Baily’s beads animation for total or pearled solar eclipses only
- Show Horizon Haze - Display or hide the horizon haze
